Clinical & DDP Supervision for Therapists in St. Louis, MO
Supportive Supervision That Helps You Grow With Confidence
Yes! Supervision Shapes Your Career
Starting out as a new clinician can feel overwhelming. You’re juggling theory, paperwork, and real-life cases that don’t always look like the textbooks. Some days you feel confident, other days you leave sessions second-guessing yourself. You want to do right by your clients, but you also want to grow into a therapist who feels grounded, skilled, and authentic in your work.
That’s where supervision makes all the difference.
I provide clinical supervision for LMSWs and DDP supervision for therapists who want to deepen their attachment-focused practice and bring greater steadiness to their work with families.
DDP Supervision for Therapists
As a certified DDP Practitioner and Supervisor, I offer supervision for clinicians who want to deepen their understanding and application of Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP).
In DDP supervision, we focus on how to bring PACE — playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy — to life in your sessions, even when working with families impacted by complex trauma. Together, we’ll look at your clinical work through a relational lens, strengthening safety, attunement, and trust between caregivers and children.
Whether you’re pursuing certification or simply want to integrate DDP principles into your practice, supervision offers space to reflect, grow, and feel supported as you continue developing as an attachment-focused therapist.
Why My Approach to Supervision Is Different
Supervision isn’t just about ticking boxes on your way to licensure or maintaining certification. It’s about developing your clinical voice, building confidence in your skills, and having a steady, reflective guide to help you navigate the challenges of trauma-focused work.
I bring my background in child and family trauma therapy, attachment-focused treatment, and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) to both clinical and DDP supervision. My goal is to help you feel supported and stretched—never alone, never stagnant—as you integrate DDP principles or grow into your professional identity.
What You Can Expect in Supervision
Skill-Building and Clinical Confidence
We’ll focus on strengthening your interventions, treatment planning, and judgment so you feel grounded in your clinical identity. For DDP therapists, we’ll deepen your use of attunement, curiosity, and emotional pacing.
A Supportive, Affirming Space
Supervision with me centers on connection and safety. Bring your doubts, celebrate your growth, and show up as your full self. I proudly offer Queer-Affirming supervision for clinicians and DDP supervision for therapists continuing their certification pathway.
My Background as a Supervisor
I’m Anne Benson, a trauma therapist, DDP Board Member, and clinical supervisor with years of experience supporting children, teens, families, and adults through complex trauma. I’ve trained in TF-CBT, PCIT, ITCT, and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), and I bring these approaches into my supervision work.
More importantly, I’ve been where you are — balancing the responsibility of client care with the desire to grow. My role as a supervisor is to help you feel steady, capable, and connected to the therapist you’re becoming, whether you’re pursuing licensure or deepening your work within DDP.
Frequently Asked Questions About Clinical and DDP Supervision
Who can receive clinical supervision with you?
I provide clinical supervision for LMSWs in St. Louis who are working toward licensure and want supportive, trauma-informed guidance as they grow in their careers. Supervision is designed to help you develop confidence in your clinical skills while building a professional identity that feels authentic and grounded.
What is DDP supervision?
DDP supervision focuses on the principles of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, an attachment-focused approach for working with children and families impacted by trauma. In supervision, we explore how to bring PACE (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy) into your clinical work while strengthening attunement and safety in the therapeutic relationship.
Do I have to be pursuing DDP certification to participate in DDP supervision?
No. While some therapists seek DDP supervision as part of the certification pathway, others join because they want to deepen their understanding of attachment-focused therapy and trauma-informed care. Supervision can support both certification goals and general clinical development.
What happens during supervision sessions?
Supervision sessions focus on reflecting on your clinical work, discussing cases, and strengthening your understanding of trauma and attachment. We may explore treatment planning, relational dynamics, and how your own presence and attunement shape the therapeutic process.
Do you offer supervision for therapists working with children and families?
Yes. Much of my work centers on trauma therapy with children, teens, and families, so supervision often includes support for clinicians working with attachment disruptions, foster care and adoption dynamics, and complex trauma.
How often does supervision take place?
Supervision frequency depends on your licensure requirements or professional goals. Many clinicians meet weekly or biweekly while pursuing licensure, though schedules can be adjusted depending on your needs and availability.
Do you offer LGBTQ+ affirming supervision?
Yes. I proudly offer Queer-Affirming supervision and strive to create a space where clinicians of all identities feel respected, supported, and able to show up authentically in their professional growth.
How do I get started with supervision?
The best way to begin is by reaching out to inquire about supervision availability. We can talk about your current stage of training, your goals as a clinician, and whether clinical or DDP supervision would be the best fit.
Inquire About Supervision
What is the difference between clinical supervision and consultation?
